Rushed home after work on Monday to test out my new stove from the sportsmen’s show. KIHD stove made in Burlington, Ontario. That is a large Tim Hortons cup for size reference. I was able to get a cup of cold spring-melt water to a rolling boil in 6-7 minutes burning a handful of twigs and leaves I had scooped up off the ground. This model does have weight to it. I don’t have the exact figure. Considering there is nothing to break and I do not have to carry fuel it’s a great stove. It could also be used with charcoal, Esbit fuel, sterno, or a Trangia stove.

I bought the KIHD basic stove on the recommendation of a paddling friend, and although at first I was concerned about the weight and the extra care that the basic stove would require, I was soon rewarded for the decision. It’s a great little stove that has served me numerous times out in the bush. It’s competitively priced in comparison to similar stoves, but yet the quality is far superior to them. Well worth it. The only improvement I could suggest is a more durable bag, but that’s small potatoes.

I am the proud owner of 2 KIHD Stoves and for very good reason. I have the basic and then upgraded to the Titanium and use both religiously. The versatility of fuels you can burn in these stove make it a winner in my book. Twigs, pine cones, charcoal, Esbit tablets, Alcohol burner, Sterno and more but I mostly use sticks or even fatwood if only wet wood is around.
These guys put some good thought into designing these stoves and I like that there are no parts that can break or jam like other stick stoves that have hinges or that are round and do not break down for transport. Once you get the hang of setting them up it can be assembled in about 15 – 20 seconds
These units also fold down to fit in an old CD Case I had kicking around.

Thanks KIHD Products, I love my stoves and I tell everyone about it.
